Job Description Job Description OVERVIEW: The Unit Leader
oversees up to 5 Cabin Leaders and 60 campers, ensuring the
spiritual, physical, emotional, and social well-being of all.
Responsibilities include planning and leading daily unit
activities, managing camper and staff behavior, supporting Cabin
Leaders, leading devotions, and preparing evening programs. DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure continuous supervision and safety of
all campers and Cabin Leaders, supporting their spiritual,
physical, emotional, and social needs Encourage camper
participation in all scheduled activities and programs Support
Cabin Leaders in developing and leading daily devotions and setting
cabin expectations Manage camper behavior and refer serious issues
to the Assistant Camp Director Plan and implement unit activities,
elective classes, and occasional evening programs Maintain
cleanliness standards through regular cabin checks and break day
inspections Ensure Cabin Leaders are prepared for each camp session
after break day Communicate camper or staff concerns to the
Assistant Camp Director Visit cabins regularly and supervise
assigned free time activity areas Assist with flag duties,
late-night supervision, and opening/closing day procedures Lead
Salvation Army badge and arts programs as assigned Build
relationships with campers and staff to foster a positive camp
experience Participate in all camp programs and spiritual formation
activities Model Christ-like behavior, concern, and service Report
suspected child abuse immediately and follow proper procedures
Report property maintenance issues to Facilities Manager or
Maintenance Crew Chief Evaluate summer program and provide
suggestions for improvement Other related duties as required All
staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total
operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening
programs; absences are excused only through the Assistant Camp
Director. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum 21 years of age
(required) Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (required)
Camping experience either as a camper or staff (required) SKILLS
AND ABILITIES: Ability to creatively motivate and encourage
counseling staff Comfortable speaking in front of groups with
strong stage presence Clear communicator across a wide range of
ages Skilled in organizing and leading group devotionals Capable of
working under pressure and solving problems creatively Able to
manage camper misbehavior appropriately Uses appropriate language
around campers Must be of good moral character Must have a personal
and growing relationship with the Lord EQUIPMENT USED: Modern
Office Equipment and Relevant Software PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend,
squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes
continuous basis Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools
