The Independent Sales Manager is the primary sales interface with the Independent Sales Representative (ISR). They provide leadership to the Independent Sales Reps (ISR) by developing their abilities with constant challenges, daily motivation, and support. They direct and achieve profitable new business, grow sales, respond to customer needs, monitor accounts receivable, build strong customer relations, present new McLane programs, align McLane resources with customer needs, manage customer expectations and perception of McLane, and control expenses within budget guidelines. * Participate in forecasting budgeted sales for existing accounts as well as potential new accounts in their assigned areas. * Achieve and/or exceed sales and gross margin budget for the independent business. * Ensure all new and existing accounts have the following criteria or items in place: * Approved credit qualifications and applicable payment policies. * Mutual understanding with assigned customers as to sales plans presented and any other financial considerations, such as incentive rebates or allowances. Maintains or exceeds current gross profit, per stop standards. * Accounts are sold through approved billing plans. Accounts meet minimum order size requirements. * This position has additional duties. Special projects may be assigned at the position supervisor's discretion. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: * Have a bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of management experience; OR without a bachelor's degree, have at least 5 years of management experience in the grocery, sales, retail, or similar job fields. * Have an in-depth understanding of the C-Store class of trade with experience working in a multicultural environment. * Be able to understand and compute the profitability of customers and product lines. * Be skilled with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). * Be willing to travel as requested. * Candidates may be subject to a background check and drug screen, in accordance with applicable laws.
