Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Caltrans Staff Services Manager I; the incumbent will provide clerical support for the Paint Region Office, within the Maintenance Program. The incumbent performs technical support, logs & produces field reports, processes safety glasses prescriptions, type letters, memos & forms, answer telephones, copying and filing. Incumbent will perform efficiently and independently and sometimes assist the Region Managers, Staff Services Manager I and/or Staff Service Analyst with administrative projects that involve using technical skills with Computer programs, assist with scheduling meeting/conferences, and coordinate district training classes. Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Office Technician Typing Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g. transfer, permissive reinstatement or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.

Working Conditions

This position is located in Oakland, Alameda county.

Incumbent will be located in a secured office building with adequate lighting and appropriate parking space. Work office space is shared with other employees which consist of an open area with appropriate air condition in the summer and heat in the winter. The incumbent may be required to travel for training purposes and may be required to travel occasionally to the District Office and Maintenance Stations in the Region.

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
