Job Description:

Koinonia Family Services is seeking a full-time Maintenance Specialist for it's Home for Teens program. Koinonia Homes for Teens provides Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs and Behavioral Health Programs to youth. The Maintenance Specialist provides maintenance, upkeep and repair for multiple residential facilities in Loomis and surrounding areas and the main administrative office. The schedule is regular business hours, Monday through Friday, with some periodic emergency on-call work (overtime). The pay for the position depends upon overall qualifications and experience, but generally starts at $18-20 per hour for someone with maintenance experience and handyman skills (light electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.). Benefits include employee group health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays and participation in the company's 401k plan.Duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Performs various "handyman" functions of assigned properties, such as minor facility repair, painting, replacing fluorescent light bulbs, replacing door knobs and locks, replacing ceiling tiles, spot carpet cleaning, clearing clogged drains, repairing damage to walls/doors caused by youth, etc.
  • Performs routine scheduled preventive maintenance at assigned facilities.
  • Performs irrigation installation and maintenance of assigned facilities.
  • Performs small remodels that are within the skill level of the maintenance specialist.
  • Obtains bids (procurement process) for more complex maintenance/repair jobs outside the skill level of the maintenance specialist (advanced plumbing/electrical/carpentry issues, roof repairs, etc.).
  • Periodically takes yard waste, old equipment, furniture and e-waste to the dump. Takes old batteries and other electronic waste to an authorized disposal site.
  • As directed, performs various "clean up" projects of properties.
  • In advance of severe rain storms, prepares the facilities to minimize water intrusion. This includes cleaning gutters, directing downspouts away from buildings, clearing outside ground drains of leaves and debris so water will drain properly.
  • Performs transport, set up, and take down of equipment and materials in support of various program operations.
  • As directed, moves equipment and supplies within or between facilities.
  • As directed, picks up and transports donated items.
  • Completes semi-annual inspections of assigned facilities and arranges to correct items that are not in compliance. Uploads related forms to the online database. If issues are identified during annual safety inspections by an external inspector, works to correct identified issues in a timely manner.Our employees say Koinonia is a great place to work!
