Paid Sick Leave About the Program Specialist positionAs a Program
Specialist you are a member of the Self Leadership Team. - Our
purpose is to assist each student on their journey towards optimal
independence through supporting each of them in their skill
development and acquisition in the areas of Living Skills,
Employment Readiness and Continued Education.As a Program
Specialist your core responsibilities include:
Learning who each student is in a way
that can allow you to provide the type and level of support each of
them needs to continue moving forward in their quest for optimal
independence. - - Daily commitment to expanding your in-depth
knowledge about who they are and establishing the needed rapport to
help them continue moving forward.Learning how all of the functions
of our teaching system are designed to support each student in
their journey. - Providing support to primary instructors during
their teaching sessions.Assisting primary instructors in order to
learn the base instructional strategies in order to provide lead
facilitation in the respective classes when needed or asked. -
Developing and leading small group instruction in areas of skill
development that are designed to further assist students in the
acquisition of needed skills and competencies.Providing support and
guidance to students in the areas of employment readiness, career
exploration, applying for positions and interviewing. Identifying
and working directly with employers on developing a system of
support through the hiring, on-boarding and retention processes. -
Providing job coaching to both the Meristem student and the
companies in which employment is secured. - Leading and/or
supporting small group Vocational Training crews that engage in
supporting partners in the community through volunteerism.
Exploring and engaging potential partners that could benefit from
partnering with a Meristem Vocational Training crew. - Providing
support and guidance to students in the areas of continued
education via college exploration (online / in-person), course
exploration, registration, engaging in course content and working
directly with them as needed to ensure course work is understood
and being completed.Assisting students in navigating and
effectively engaging the various college support systems designed
to support them. - Additional responsibilities & expectations:
Modeling in all our activities and
interactions that which we are intending to teach / show / coach
our students in.Developing and sustaining a strong rapport with all
staff members (including program managers and supervisors) in order
to allow for fluid collaboration, problem solving and creative
thinking.Staying in compliance with all mandated documentation of
student progress.Attending meetings with the supervisor,
Self-Leadership -Team and All Staff Team.Developing and following
an individual plan for personal growth & development.Attending and
fully engaging in "all-group" (staff and students)
activities.Adhering to the Meristem structure of skill development
through developmental progression - beginner, intermediate,
advanced.Keeping workspaces -clean and organized.Arriving at any 1
to 1 or small group session fully prepared to engage effectively
and through the duration of the session. - - When asked,
participate in support network meetings and discussions that may
include a student's family members or other members of the
community that also support the student.Provide direct and indirect
support to any new staff - when asked / needed - through the
onboarding process.Engage in both scheduled and unscheduled
activities designed to further understand and explore the founding
principles of Meristem and the teaching methods utilized.Perform
other duties as asked and directed.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
experiences is preferred.A verifiable track record of successful
employment.An intermediate level (or higher) of proficiency using a
computer (MAC or PC), Google Suite (docs, sheets, slides, calendar
and drive) and email.Currently licensed and insured in the state of
California.Willingness to drive students to and -from various
locations using Meristem vehicles.Willingness to have a flexible
schedule that may include adjusting your schedule on a regular or
semi-regular basis including some early weekday shifts, late
weekday shifts and/or weekend shifts.1 or more years in a teaching
and/or coaching capacity is highly preferred.Familiarity with
Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Developmental DisabilitiesThree
professional references.Pre-Employment Background and Drug Test
