Description: SUMMARYReporting to the Executive Director for
Western States Policy and Outreach, the Student Services
Coordinator will assist in planning and coordinating HNIP's
activities and processes to support the recruitment, selection,
placement, and successful development of the student's internship
experience with federal, state, and local non-profit agencies. The
Student Services Coordinator will manage programmatic efforts for
HNIP while working with the Director of HNIP and Strategic
Initiatives. The Student Services Coordinator will also support the
work of the program and provide exemplary customer service to our
applicants, selected interns, and agency liaisons. They will also
manage the professional development program for interns to include
but not limited to, identifying the speakers, and coordinating the
logistics of the activity. The Student Services Coordinator should
have a service-oriented mindset, and team-oriented approach,
possess a passion to promote professional development for student
advancement, have a professional presence, and be comfortable with

expertise.EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in education, communication,
business, social science, political science, or related field, with
1-2 years experience in student services or student program
development.
- Experience in service-related industries, project management,
student development, and/or student recruitment.
- Must have reliable transportation for work-related travel.
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
and take ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES(Other duties may be assigned)
- Works collaboratively and strategically in a team environment
with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative
staff to ensure the fulfillment of HACU's mission, goals, and
objectives.
- Supporting day-to-day operations of HNIP and its critical
components around community with students and other key
stakeholders.
- Oversee and manage the HNIP internship cohorts for fall,
spring, and summer sessions.
- Perform midterm and final evaluations for all HNIP interns for
fall, spring, and summer sessions.
- Assist in securing internships placements for the interns with
the guidance of the Program Manager and the Director of HNIP and
Strategic Initiatives
- Assist in the identification, tracking, and monitoring of
student progress in the internship.
- Work with the HNIP staff on scheduling, coordinating meetings,
collecting, tracking, and maintaining records while assuring
confidentiality at all levels.
- Assist with travel and student housing arrangements.
- Oversee, coordinate, and assist with HNIP programs such as
student orientation, professional development sessions, and
farewell event.
- Coordinate targeted recruitment and screening of students for
internship opportunities.
- Coach students through the application process of targeted
outreach for in-demand needs from federal agencies.
- Properly onboard students before their internship starts, which
includes e-verifying students and ensuring that they finish all
their workplace training.
- Assist in developing and executing presentations on program
components and benefits at intern orientations and agency
events.
- Handle administrative tasks that relate to the overall
management of the HNIP program.
- Plan and conduct recruitment visits to HACU member
institutions, recruitment events, and conferences.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals at
federal, state, and nonprofit agencies that support HNIP.
- Assists in collecting reports, compiling data, and presenting
results that help with the program evaluation process.
- Works on social media efforts and coordinates strategy for
using most effective methods to leverage social media.
- Provide support for the development of an alumni program and an
annual alumni event.
- Work with the government relations team on related student
programming.
- This role does not have any supervisory

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business and
educational journals, contracts & grants, financial reports, and
legal documents with the utmost attention to detail.
- Ability to define problems, spot trends, collect and analyze
large sets of data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in
standardized situations.
- Excellent speaking, writing, and editing skills. Strong
knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, database applications like
Excel and Access, some HTML and content management systems
management, and social media tools.
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
and take ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK
ENVIRONMENT
- Employee will work a standard of 40 hours a week; however,
longer hours may be necessary at times.
- Working conditions are in an office environment.
- Must have own transportation for work-related travel.
- Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Maintains and ensures security of HACU-issued equipment,
software, data, and supplies.
- Conferences and events may take place in hotel and/or
convention center settings and require longer hours of work on
constantly changing schedule, including work on weekends and
evenings.
- May travel locally for HNIP recruitment events.
- Hold a Class C Driver's License with appropriate
insurance.

- Salary Range: $46,000 - $51,000
