Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a
nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries
for this role across the country. The actual salary for this
position will be determined by a number of factors, including the
scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education,
training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other
conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation
and benefits program, employees are also eligible for
performance-based cash incentive awards.
Salary Range
$97,100.00 - $160,200.00

What Is the Opportunity?
Support the Security Engineering program at Travelers and our
security initiatives in the cloud. Assist the cryptography team in
meeting data encryption, secrets management, and TLS certificate
requirements throughout the enterprise. Lead automation in
infrastructure as code, instance provisioning, certificate
deployments/renews, and general data harvesting from multiple
systems for security analysis. Assist with operations and support
of HashiCorp Vault, Thales Enterprise Vault, Venafi, and Wiz.io.
Ideal candidate will bring vulnerability data analysis and
reporting skills, programming/development in Python and/or
PowerShell, and a solid understanding of Cloud security. Must be
self-motivated, energetic, able to multi-task, adaptable to change,
and able to plan/coordinate worthwhile adjusting priorities as
necessary.
What Will You Do?
Provide operational support, trouble shooting and maintenance of
Security related processes, controls, or products.
Independently analyze and resolve problems of medium to high
complexity.
Recommends changes to area procedures and products. Implements own
recommendations with management review.
Support cloud environments in accordance with company security
guidelines.
Create and maintain documentation around our encryption, secrets
management and PKI strategies.
Consults with business peers to analyze, support, and resolve
Cybersecurity events.
Participate in Security and enterprise projects as assigned.
Configure, test, document and implement new or upgrades to security
processes, controls or products as directed.
Understands and has input to the budget process, and shares
responsibility for cost-effective expense control of assigned
projects.
Work with various engineering teams to implement security
controls.
Act as a security representative at design and new technology
meetings.
Provides guidance to more junior employees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering,
Math) discipline preferred.
Five years of relevant experience with Cybersecurity practices,
processes, and Cybersecurity event investigation/resolution
preferred.
Experience providing high-level administrative support with a
comprehensive knowledge of specific IS Security methodologies,
processes and software packages and a conceptual understanding of
other IS Security procedures and policies preferred.
Proficient use of automation and provisioning tools, techniques,
and manipulation including, Cloud platforms (AWS or Google Cloud),
programming languages (Python, PowerShell, Terraform, Puppet,
Ansible), and an understanding of security engineering
practices.
Experience with some of the following tools & platforms (or
similar): AWS services, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Puppet,
Terraform, SQL, Jenkins, Urban Code Deploy, GitHub, OpenSearch
(Elasticsearch & Kibana), Hashicorp Vault, Microsoft Certificate
Manager, Venafi, etc.
Knowledge and experience with the some of the following concepts:
Real-time & Batch Data Processing, Workload Orchestration, API
connectivity, Cloud, Data Security, Networking, SecDevOps, Logging,
Monitoring, and Alerting, Encryption/Decryption, Data Masking, Cost
& Performance Optimization.
Knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as RHEL/Ubuntu Linux,
Network, Database, Server, Storage, DNS, Load-balancer, TLS
Certificates, Virtual Machines, etc.
Advanced knowledge of one or more of the following technical
skills:- Python Programming Language- Symmetric and Asymmetric
encryption- Key management and lifecycles- Linux shell scripting
and operating system administration- HTTPS protocol and TLS
Ciphers- Ansible/Puppet provisioning languages- Terraform
infrastructure as code language.

What is a Must Have?
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Five years of work experience within Computer Science or a related
field required.
