DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
Housed within the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the
Department of Biological Sciences is one of the largest programs on
campus, with approximately 1600 undergraduate and 50 Master's
students, 32 tenure track faculty, approximately 30 lecturers, and
11 technical and administrative staff. Students in our department
come from diverse academic, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Faculty and staff are committed to equity and diversity programs
that ensure student success in STEM disciplines. The Department
prides itself on the collaborative nature in which students, staff,
and faculty work together in a professional and supportive
environment to ensure one another's success.
Biological Sciences faculty are active research and pedagogical
scholars who emphasize innovative teaching and student success.
Faculty work closely with their students in instructional
laboratories, advising sessions, and have opportunities for
mentoring in their area of expertise. The Department has recently
moved into a new state-of-the-art science building with shared
research suites, molecular biology and imaging resources, and a
mammalian cell culture facility, which add to our existing natural
history collections, greenhouses, and California State University
field resources. Additionally, the College has a growing consortium
of faculty pursuing STEM education research. Faculty also nurture
strong relationships with community partners, providing bridges for
students to engage in internships, service-learning, and off-campus
research experiences.

POSITION DETAILS:
This is a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant
Professor rank in Biological Sciences beginning in the Fall 2023
semester. Salary is dependent upon CSU system-wide ranges,
qualifications, and professional experience.

assignment is in-person.
