Job Description:
$1000 Hiring Bonus available for all levels (RADT I/II
registration qualifies as an AOD Counselor, CADC/SUDCC/CADTP
certification qualifies as AOD Counselor I, II or III depending on
certification/degree level) JOB SUMMARY The AOD Counselor
coordinates with the program team members to provide community
based, comprehensive, strength-based, culturally competent, trauma
informed, flexible, effective, SUPT services and supports to
eligible children, youth, and families. The AOD Counselor provides
services in accordance with County SUPT and Family Centered
Practice principles, including family voice and choice provided in
collaboration with those individuals and agencies involved with the
child or youth. Supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of the
agency. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience Equivalent to a high
school diploma, plus additional specialized training equal to two
years of college in Addiction Studies/Alcohol & Drug Studies or
related behavioral health/behavioral science fields, and two years
of related experience and Certification as an Alcohol & Other Drug
Counselor equivalent to the education and experience level
described above from 1 of 3 California approved certification
organizations Lived experience preferred, minimum 2 years sobriety
required Bilingual, in a threshold language is preferred Skills &
Requirements Knowledge of the principles and practices of substance
abuse diagnosis, treatment, and prevention; counseling and
interviewing techniques; the dynamics of interpersonal
relationships; and community resources/programs Prepared to work
independently with flexible hours that may include evenings,
weekends, and holidays Proven documentation skills and intermediate
level computer skills including all MS Office programs Verbal and
written ability to communicate effectively with colleagues,
community partners, consumers, and all levels of management Ability
to multi-task and prioritize projects and assignments effectively
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment within
program/department and agency wide Ability to work in a mobile,
fast paced environment Ability to use a laptop computer Fulfillment
of TB test, background check clearance, and any other mandatory
State/Federal requirements Valid California driver's license, proof
of automobile insurance, can maintain a driving record acceptable
to the agency's insurance carrier, if applicable to position Must
provide and operate a registered, properly insured automobile, if
applicable to position ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Position Specific
Provides services to assigned children, youth, and families in the
home, office, school, or other community-based settings. May
utilize telehealth per current agency and contractor guidelines.
Possesses specific cultural competence to work with and outreach to
culturally diverse populations and communities. Provides services
to children and youth involved in the identified systems meeting
all County requirements as listed in program scope. Provides Drug
Medi-Cal individual rehabilitation to youth as identified in
youth's treatment plan. Provides Drug Medi-Cal collateral support
to caregivers and significant support persons as identified in
youth's treatment plan. Develops and facilitates Drug Medi-Cal
rehabilitative and/or skill building groups. Completes Functional
Assessments and Crisis Plans prior to providing rehabilitation as
assigned. Model and coach positive, constructive attitudes and
behaviors in managing difficult situations in school, work, and
living situations. Completes Drug Medi-Cal Screening, Intake, Core
Assessment, Mid Assessment and Discharge packets as assigned per
scope of practice. Develops and maintains positive relationships
with agency and community partners. Develops and prepares updates
to individualized safety plans in coordination with youth's child
family team, maximizing the use of natural supports and
community-based resources. Provides other case management functions
as necessary, securing formal resources, and keeping team members
informed of progress and challenges presented. Participates in
Child Family Team (CFT), multi-disciplinary team, hospital, crisis,
psychiatric, court, school, and provider meetings as scheduled.
Provides and documents all Drug Medi-Cal eligible billable and
non-billable services, including but not limited to assessment,
plan development, group session, collateral, rehabilitation, and
crisis intervention within required timelines. Attends all staff
meetings, consumer meetings, and consultation meetings as
scheduled. Participates in the agency 24 hour family support
on-call rotation. Able to provide or arrange for safe
transportation for youth and families to services as needed.
Participates in utilization, accreditation, peer review process as
assigned. Works collaboratively with all internal programs,
departments, and staff to provide support as needed. Maintains
positive relationships with consumers and customers. Responsible
for meeting all outcomes as documented in Employee Development
Plan. Coordinates with other services provided under the Drug
Medi-Cal model, acting in collaboration with other partners and
ensuring documentation reflects standards that meet or surpass the
agency's, state and federal Drug Medi-Cal/Medicaid standards.
Agency Specific Perform all duties in a manner consistent with the
principles and values of agency, while adhering to applicable
professional codes of ethics, the agency's policies and procedures,
contractor requirements, and regulatory requirements. Model and
communicate appropriate positive attitudes toward the agency's
Mission, Vision, and Values Work collaboratively with all agency
programs and staff to provide support as needed Utilize and
maintain calendar with all work-related details to manage time
effectively and share calendar information with coworkers
Participate in on-going training to expand and develop professional
skills Perform other duties as necessary for the agency, as
assigned Employment Type: Full Time Salary: $39,520 - $65,880
