As a key member of the Annual Giving team, the Annual Giving
Associate contributes to the development, coordination, and
execution of a complex and comprehensive, multichannel annual
giving program for the University through e-solicitations,
telemarketing, direct mail, peer-to-peer and face-to-face
solicitations, stewardship measures, and digitally-driven efforts.
The Annual Giving Associate provides vital support to giving day
and crowdfunding efforts, and performs data review, reporting, and
analysis to make recommendations and to assist with data-driven
outreach and fundraising strategies to maximize results. The Annual
Giving Associate reports to the Executive Director of Annual Giving
Programs and Special Projects.
FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)
CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,170 - $7,545 per month
Hiring Range: $4,170 - $4,583 per month, commensurate with
candidate's education, experience, skill and training.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm; Must be available to
work evenings and weekends as needed.
Annual Giving is responsible for creating and executing the
University's multi-faceted annual giving program with the goal of
engaging various constituencies of Sacramento State, including
alumni, faculty & staff (current and emeritus), students, and
community members to maximize fundraising for university-wide
priorities, Colleges and departments, and current expenditure funds
across campus. Annual Giving is also responsible for leadership
annual giving programs, pipeline development, giving days,
crowdfunding, philanthropic education, and optimizing cultivation
and stewardship strategies to secure commitments at the leadership
annual giving level, and to identify prospects for major gifts.
Embedded in Annual Giving is the Advancement Communications team
consisting of a graphic designer and advancement writer who provide
design and writing support for the entire division. They are
responsible for developing and executing a strategic communications
plan and for creating the accompanying designs, collateral, assets,
and messaging to support the outreach, engagement, and fundraising
efforts of University Advancement that align with the University
priorities and brand.
Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills
in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a
foundational knowledge of public administration principles,
practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained
through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and
administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or
evaluation leading to the development or improvement of
administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

communications, proposal writing, and/or demonstrated success in an
annual giving program.
2. Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories,
principles, practices, and techniques applicable to fundraising,
annual giving, communications, marketing, and audience engagement
to develop conclusions and make recommendations.
3. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside
regulations pertaining to fundraising and advancement, and of
direct mail, telemarketing, face-to-face, peer-to-peer, and online

administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate
problems and address them proactively.
9. Strong written and oral communication skills.
10. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and
present information and ideas in written or presentation form, with
the ability to be persuasive about philanthropic support for higher
education and represent the University in public forums.
11. Excellent interpersonal skills with a highly developed sense of
protocol and experience in building successful relationships (i.e.
with prospects, volunteers, board members). Ability to collaborate
and partner with internal and external constituencies to address
needs and issues or to implement new processes and programs.
12. Ability to train, coordinate, and motivate staff, student
employees, volunteers, and advisory groups; including taking
appropriate corrective action when needed.
13. Proficiency with standard office software and hardware.
