Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Department Chair, the SSP II is responsible coordinating the admissions process for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. In addition to coordinating the admissions process, the incumbent's responsibilities include: evaluating transcripts for prerequisites or equivalencies; tracking student data; advising students in the program through individual and group advising sessions; monitoring student progress through the program to ensure all requirements are met, and assisting faculty in the Clinical Education program with student clinical placements by tracking risk management records, clinical site information, and facility contracts.

FLSA: Exempt (not eligible for overtime compensation under FLSA). This position is benefits-eligible.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4476 - $6365 per month

Hiring Range: $4476 - $4947 per month

Department Information

Sacramento State's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a three-year program dedicated to graduating professional, evidence-informed physical therapists who have the knowledge and skills to provide patient care in any practice environment.

The program's curriculum is designed to provide a foundation in the science and art of physical therapy, one that engages students in clinical reasoning through problem-solving within the context of patient cases, both actual and simulated. In addition, students complete 36 weeks of full-time internships at three locations to learn by doing in their respective practice settings.

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of the program to which assigned; general knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management. General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior.

Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations; use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews; reason logically; collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data; advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required; recognize multicultural, multisexed and multiaged value systems and work accordingly; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, student advising and community contacts; and, rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas.

Possession of these knowledge and abilities typically is demonstrated through the Experience requirements below.

Experience:

Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a jobrelated field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

Education:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a jobrelated field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a yearforyear basis.

Required Qualifications

1. One-year of advising-related experience or a Master's degree in a job-related field.
2. Ability to understand, interpret, analyze and apply complex rules, regulations and procedures.
3. Experience working with students from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
4. Ability to handle sensitive and/or complex situations with confidentiality and discretion.
5. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with departments on campus in order to provide high level of support services for physical therapy students and applicants.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
7. Proficiency using standard office software packages (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as the ability to utilize student information systems, databases and other appropriate software.
8. Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule that may include occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
9. Attention to detail and outstanding organization and problem-solving skills.
10. Ability to multitask in a busy environment, set priorities among numerous ongoing activities and meet internal and external deadlines.
11. Ability to apply independent judgement, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop solutions.

12. Experience using Common Management System (CMS) for student admissions.
13. Experience preparing and delivering presentations for small and large groups consisting of students, staff, faculty, and/or administrators.
14. Experience using OnBase, Webadmit, PTCAS, Web CPI, Acadaware, CastleBranch, and
myClinicalExchange.
15. Knowledge of the University's Student Services Programs, Office of Graduate Studies, and Academic Affairs policies and procedures.
16. Experience working with databases, website, communications software, social media and/or information systems.
