This position is responsible for following follow all policies and procedures and ensuring compliance at all levels.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Set and contribute to a safe, dignified, orderly atmosphere by enforcing program rules, policies, and procedures.Instruct, direct, provide guidance, and encourage youthConduct regular rounds of facility and interact with clients to share informationAssists the youth, as needed, in the performance of regular daily activities Maintains behavioral management of all situations. Provides any necessary proactive crisis interventions. Identifies and ensures proper and timely documentation/notification of any safety concerns, emergencies, situations or general maintenance needs of the facility and grounds to ensure compliance with any and all safety, regulatory and health standards. Immediately reports to a supervisor any issues regarding safety or any identified future danger. Disperses and records prescribed and non-prescribed medications according to policies and procedures.Ensures food is prepared and served according to the schedule, menu and in an appropriate manner and that cleanup is completed after each meal.Ensures the facility is cleaned in a timely, thorough and efficient manner.Follows personal rights guidelines at all times.Assists in the intake, orientation, and discharge of youth.Assures adequate communication of youth information both internally and externally.Attends meetings, workshops and trainings as requested.Safely coordinates transportation and provides transports for youth as needed.Develops positive rapport with youth while serving as a role model to create a safe and caring environment.Performs other related duties as required. COMPETENCIES Must be at least 21 years of ageExperience working with homeless and/or at-risk youth; ability to establish and maintain trusting relationships with youth. Ability to remain calm and focused in volatile situations. Demonstrated experience working in crisis intervention.Ability to develop and maintain professional behavior/appropriate boundaries with youth and staff members.Ability to work independently and as a member of a teamAcceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices.Understanding of harm reduction frameworks and how they apply to direct serviceREQUIREMENTS Preferred: Associate's degree in related field from accredited university or college ORAccepted: 2 years' experience providing direct service Experience working within diverse communities.Working knowledge of community resources as they relate to homelessness and youth. No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, or predatory behavior.Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the US.Must pass a drug and background screening. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Previously homeless strongly encouraged to apply. WORK CONDITIONS/HAZARDS Work is primarily performed in Shelter or Center locations.Work environment usually hectic (fast paced) with frequent short deadlines and a regular number of critical or unusual situations.Some physical work, including lifting, bending, climbing stairs, carrying up to 35 pounds.Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license and be willing to travel to various work locations.May require work outside of normal work hours, including evenings or weekends.
