Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accounts Receivable Specialist provides clerical support in accounts receivable and general accounting functions to effectively operate the Sacramento Native American Health Center, Inc.RequirementsEssential Functions * Ensure the daily count of each cash drawer is conducted for each department that receives cash payments and double check that the cash logs are signed off by the responsible party and their manager or a designee.* Provide change to Patient Services staff as needed for their cash drawer.* Maintain system to ensure that each receipt number issued is accounted for.* Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing invoices and vouchers for grants and contracts awarded to SNAHC for submission approval.* Mail or electronically submit invoices/vouchers upon approval electronically and/or through the U.S. mail.* Track all invoices mailed and ensure that copies are maintained in the office's filing system.* Match invoices with payments in the accounting system and code deposits accordingly.* Assist in accounting system closing procedures.* Abide by industry best practices (e.g. proper PPE, ergonomic posture, etc.) to maintain a safe working environment; report safety issues or concerns to the Medical Clinic Manager or the Safety Officer immediately; review Safety and Health plans, understand, and ask questions regarding safe practices in your work area.* Comply with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to the position including HIPAA, sexual harassment, Scope of Practice, OSHA, SCAR reporting, etc. * Other duties as assigned. * Perform data entry for all credit/debit card, checks and cash payments made by patients.* Prepare deposits for agency bank and make bank deposits on a weekly basis.* Maintain accurate and current files for daily cash deposits according to the date of service with copies of receipts, checks and deposit slips.* Perform general office work such as data entry filing, faxing, scanning, and copying. * Prepare journal entries for review and posting by the Accounting Manager.Minimum Qualifications* High school diploma or equivalent, with specialized training in accounting.* Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers with accounting software such as QuickBooks or MIP as well* as general programs such as MS Office.Preferred Qualification* 4 years of accounting experience in a nonprofit and/or health care setting is preferredBenefits* Supportive and creative work environment.* Medical coverage offered with two of the region's highest quality providers.* 403B plan with a 3% match after 90 days.* 12 paid days off.Preference in hiring is given to qualified Native Americans in accordance with SNAHC policy.
