Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
      • 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of law with a specific focus on California and national health care laws, and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
      • Personal leadership and management experience in a state or civil service environment, including leading a team of legal professionals and administering an annual operating budget.
      • Experience operating at an intellectually high level providing legal guidance and direction for a large, complex, organization and working cooperatively as a team member to support Executive staff in meeting the mission and goals of the organization.
      • Experience as legal advisor to top management, including evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of policies, procedures, guidelines, and recommendations in compliance with legislative, regulatory and industry requirements and corporate objectives.
      • Experience working with a Board or Commission, including open meeting laws.
