Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer
Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology,
Anthropology, or related field. 5 years of experience conducting UX
research on products and working with executive leadership (e.g.,
Director level and above). 3 years of experience managing projects,
and working in a large, matrixed organization. Experience working
on products related to artificial intelligence, machine learning,

(UXR), you make this possible. You will join our multi-disciplinary
UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, to
gather insights and create industry-leading products. You’ll play a
critical role in helping your team understand user needs and will
drive impact at all stages of product development, ensuring
products are useful, usable, and helpful. You will explore user
behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research,
including: field studies, interviews, diary studies, ethnography,
surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. You will also grow
within a supportive UXR community offering mentorship, regular
meetups, and exclusive internal tools. The mission of the Search
Verticals and International team is to "elevate the journeys that
matter most" - designing specialty experiences for a global user
base searching for information on travel, local, finance, TV &
movies, sustainability, sports, and so much more. In the era of AI,
this team sits at a critical junction - how do we transform these
long-standing experiences to meet (and lead) the evolution in how
users prefer to seek and consume information? This team works
across key Search surfaces, including the Search results page, the
new "AI Mode," and Discover (the personalized feed in the Google

solve complex engineering challenges and expand our infrastructure,

globally. The US base salary range for this full-time position is
$159,000-$231,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are
determined by role, level, and location. Within the range,
individual pay is determined by work location and additional
factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant

Responsibilities Plan and execute a variety of qualitative research
methods, such as in-depth interviews, contextual inquiries, and
usability studies, to gather user feedback. Develop and refine
research questions to address key product and design challenges,
and recruit and manage participant pools for research studies.
Analyze and synthesize qualitative data to generate actionable
insights and recommendations. Create detailed reports, user
personas, and journey maps to communicate research findings to
stakeholders. Collaborate with product managers and designers to
translate research insights into product requirements and design
improvements. Present research findings to a variety of audiences,
from project teams to executive leadership. Work cross-functionally
to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the
technical and business worlds. Break down complex problems into
steps that drive product development.
