Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner - Pulmonary works in collaboration with supervising physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and medical assistants. Performs comprehensive pulmonary medical assessments, orders appropriate tests/procedures for diagnostic purposes, formulates treatment plans, and obtains specialists' consultations as needed, and appropriate documentation. Responsibilities
    • Provide pulmonary medical care to various and/or specific patient levels - adults, geriatric, pediatric.
    • Perform comprehensive evaluations including history and physical exams.
    • Address both chronic and acute primary care complaints, and able to ascertain medical urgency
    • Establish reasonable medical diagnoses.
    • Diagnose conditions within scope of practice of practitioner, or generate a differential diagnosis prior to reviewing case with preceptor or referring patient for specialty care or advanced diagnostics.
    • Seek specialty consultation as appropriate after completing appropriate work up, reviewing test results, and generating a differential diagnosis.
    • Order pertinent diagnostic laboratory and radiology testing for the medical diagnosis or presenting symptom; use diagnostic tests judiciously and appropriately.
    • Discuss unusual or unclear symptoms or results with supervising physician in a timely manner.
    • Accept feedback and direction from the supervising physician.
    • Create and implements a medical plan of care.
    • Perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures within his/her level of training and expertise, and as outlined on the practice agreement and written protocol with the supervising physician.
    • Prescribe medications as appropriate.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate clinic hours. Educational/License Requirements
      • Licensed in the state as an RN and Nurse Practitioner.
      • Certification as either an Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner.
      • Possession of a Furnishing License.
      • Possession of state and federal Controlled Substance Registration.
      • BLS Certification Required.
      • Valid TB Test within the past 12 months. Qualifications and Experience
        • One year of Pulmonary or Acute Care Experience required.
        • If no Pulmonary or Acute Care Experience, then 4-5 years Nurse Practitioner Outpatient experience.
        • Possession of exceptional communication and interpersonal skills that enable effective collaboration with physicians, staff, community health workers, patients and their families.
        • Ability to understand complex medical information and clearly communicate it to patients and their families, medical staff, and external customers, in written and spoken format.
        • Ability to keep all sensitive and confidential information to self and out of reach to unauthorized persons.
        • Possession of exceptional communication and interpersonal skills that enable effective collaboration with physicians, staff, community health workers, patients and their families.
        • Possession of conflict resolution and problem solving skills to effectively manage conflict in work environment.

        • Excellent active listening and critical thinking skills.
        • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, confidence, and sincerity while quickly and positively engaging candidates.

        • Ability to learn how to provide care to special patient population and those with diverse cultural background.
        • Strong organizational skills.---
        • Ability to make recommendations by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or law.---
        • Intermediate to advanced level skills with MS Word, MS Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft programs.
        • Ability to receive constructive job and/or industry related feedback.
        • Ability to exercise sound discretion and strict maintenance of confidentiality of all confidential and sensitive communications and information.
        • Ability to consistently deliver excellent customer service.
