Job Description:
Sutter Medical Group (SMG) seeks to hire full-time Pediatric
Acute Care Nurse Practitioners to join our dynamic PICU team in
Sacramento, CA. Two years of experience as a nurse practitioner is
preferred. Opportunity Details: The PICU is a 20-bed, tertiary care
unit. 10 of the beds are a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU. 120-180
congenital heart repair cases/year. All STAT category (STAT 1-5)
cases represented, including neonatal single ventricle repair. The
ideal candidate would have some pediatric CV ICU experience, but it
is not required. A diverse population of patients. Over 3 million
population catchment area. Platinum center of excellence in ECMO
care (~10-15 ECMO runs/year). All ventilator modalities including
high frequency, VDR, and NAVA ventilation. All pediatric
subspecialists are available for consultation. Plenty of teaching
opportunities with medical students and ER residents rotating in
the PICU. 9 FTE PICU physicians (soon to add a 10th). Two PICU MD
teams during the daytime, one primarily cardiac patients, the other
medical. One PICU MD in hospital overnight with a second PICU MD on
call from home. NP’s will cover both days and nights, Monday
through Friday. One NP during the day from 8-4 pm supporting both
teams. Second NP 9 pm to 9 am overnight supporting the in-hospital
PICU MD. The ideal candidate would have some experience with
performing PICU procedures (including intubation, central line and
arterial line placement, chest tube placement, lumbar punctures,
etc) but this is not a requirement as this will be taught and
proctored one-on-one with PICU MD. The ideal candidate will have a
strong background/interest in teaching as there is an expectation
for NP’s to play a teaching role to our nursing staff. Medical
