Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years preferred License: Valid State License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, CPI or MAB accepted Must-Have: Charting System Experience: Epic Travel experience required Description: Universal Care RN needed with rotating every other Saturday required. Writes initial nursing histories and assesses patient conditions. Develops individual care plans for patients and evaluates their effectiveness. Demonstrates knowledge of care needs for various patient populations including infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Coordinates delivery of patient care and directs assignments to support personnel. Supervises care provided by subordinates and assigns tasks based on patient needs. Provides direct patient care and adjusts the nursing care process as indicated. Teaches patients and significant others about health care needs. Maintains documentation in patient records while adhering to regulatory standards. Evaluates care plans based on patient conditions and communicates with the healthcare team. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families. Reports observations regarding patients to the physician and records them accurately. Assists physicians with patient exams and emergency measures as necessary. Stimulates motivation in team members and recognizes their accomplishments. Participates actively in orientation of new personnel and serves as a role model. Delivers care that preserves client autonomy and maintains patient confidentiality. Functions as relief Charge Nurse as assigned. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities to enhance professional development. Communicates clearly and tactfully with patients and their families. Adheres to hospital and nursing departmental policies, objectives, and safety standards. Participates on unit committees as assigned and demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort. Explains procedures thoroughly to patients, monitors their comfort, and alleviates anxiety. Responds promptly to patient inquiries and prioritizes work effectively. Attends unit staff meetings and reviews staff meeting minutes. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. May be required to float to units as necessary. Identifies patients to initiate care for. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. Daily census ranges from 8 to 20 patients.
