  • A hospital near Sacramento is looking for experienced MedSurg/Tele RN for a travel contract.
  • The right candidate will have 2 years of experience, hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIH and CA License.
    • Job Requirements
    • 2 years of experience as a MedSurg/Tele RN.
    • Must hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIH and CA License.
    • Must be proficient reading & interpreting tele strips.
    • Experience with many post-ops; ortho, lap chole, general surgicals.
    • Experience with psych patients with sitters on a case by case basis.
    • Are RNs required to titrate drips: Yes
    • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Titrate: heparin, morphine. Set rate: protonix, morphine, amio, dobutamine.
      • Schedule Information
      • 12Hr shifts: 7a-730p/7p-730a
      • Self-scheduling is used; final schedule decided by manager.
      • Block scheduling is generally not available.
      • OT and extra shifts available.
      • Schedules are published 4 weeks in advance.
      • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Common diagnosis/Types of patients: Many post-ops; ortho, lap chole, general surgicals. Also have psych patients with sitters on case by case basis.
        • RNs required to titrate drips: Yes
        • Charge nurse generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.
        • Nurse Aides: Yes as census and staffing dictates
        • No vents. Can have Cpap, Bipap, high flow
        • No monitor techs.
        • Floating to other MedSurg floors is common. Potential to also float to the ER for ER hold patients.
        • All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen.
        • Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided: Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy.
        • Department Specific Orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.
          • Additional Details
          • Need 2 supervisor references at submittal; 1 within 12 months & 1 within 3 years worked.
          • Modules must be completed before start, average 3-4 hrs (time not billable).
          • Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years).
          • Holiday time off will be considered, however not guaranteed.
          • COVID Vaccine Required (Certification).
          • Low income area. Common to have homeless and inmate patients.
