The PositionHead of Cancer Immunology DiscoveryGenentech has an
outstanding opportunity for a creative and highly accomplished
scientist to lead our Cancer Immunology Discovery department, one
of the largest and most distinguished departments devoted uniquely
to this topic in academia or industry. The successful candidate
will have the opportunity to lead a team dedicated to the discovery
and development of novel cancer immunology therapeutics. She/he
will be responsible for executing a vision and strategy for a team
of highly talented internal and external researchers, working
closely with core function stakeholders to help guide our
scientific efforts and drive our robust cancer immunology drug
development pipeline. - The Cancer Immunology Discovery department
has implemented a broad approach to the highly focused problem of
the immune response in cancer and thus involves multiple
forward-looking modalities ranging from T cell immunology, to
personalized vaccine and cell therapies, the development of
iPSC-derived cells, and understanding the tumor microenvironment,
including the immunobiology of myeloid cells, dendritic cells, and
B cells. We stress the integration of high throughput analytical,
computational, and ML/AI approaches with experimental lab-based
science in the pursuit of the best opportunities for patients.The
position leads our research strategy across the organization
including Bioinformatics, Small and Large Molecule Drug Discovery,
Biomarker Development, and Clinical Development. In this position,
the candidate will be part of the Cancer Immunology and Research
Leadership teams and represent the function on the Development and
the Early-Stage Review Committees. She/he will strategize and
coordinate research efforts with our early-stage oncology clinical

investigation and publication.Qualifications--- PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or
equivalent in Immunology or related discipline--- Proven record
developing strategic vision leveraging cancer immunology research
biology to alter the paradigm for target and diagnostic discovery
and support drug discovery and development efforts--- At least 10
years of leading an independent research laboratory with a
sustained record of scholarly achievements, as evidenced by
publications in high impact journals--- Proven ability and passion
for mentoring and developing world class talent--- Record of
accomplished scientific mentorship--- Excellent leadership
capabilities with demonstrated skill in building, guiding, and
motivating effective teams and fostering productive research
collaborations--- Outstanding communication and partnering

$217,600-404,200. -Actual pay will be determined based on
