Job Requirements: Job Summary: - The Hospice Quality Assurance Nurse, in accordance with policies and standards established by the Board of Directors, and under the direct supervision of the Quality Manager, develops, implements and evaluates the Continuous Quality Improvement Program and activities that support Agency's objectives in delivering quality client care services. The Quality Assurance Nurse is responsible for auditing of patient charts and support the hospice agency's philosophy and standards. The QA nurse will be auditing charts & coding in HIS; that may include Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance to assure all are in compliance with the State and Federal regulations. Must demonstrate above average attention to detail to ensure accuracy and be able to prioritize and multitask efficiently. Qualifications/Educational Requirements: 1. Licensed Vocational Nurse. 2. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a healthcare setting. Responsibilities/essential functions: -The person in this position must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations. 1. Demonstrate excellent oral and communication skills. 2. Demonstrate efficient teamwork with the staff. 3. Demonstrate organizational and time management skills. 4. Support quality improvement practices under guidance of Quality Manager. - 5. Perform nursing procedures according to agency policy and procedures. - 6. Work under the direction of the Quality Manager or RN if performing patient care 7. Monitor reactions and patient progress using observation, assessment, and evaluation skills. 8. Educate staff, patients, and family members according to disease process, medications, POC, treatment options, and hospice care procedures according to the plan of care. 9. Report to Quality Manager. physician and RN of adverse findings as appropriate. - 10. Follow Medicare and Medicaid regulations. - 11. Coordinate and monitor patient care and services under guidance of Quality Manager. - 12. Comply with HIPPA regulations in and out of the office. 13. Follow infection control policy in and out of the office. 14. Document skilled visit according to Medicare guidelines. 15. Maintain patient records according to policy and procedures. - 16. Participate in in-services, workshops, seminars, and self-study courses annually. - 17. Perform nursing visits and on-call duties, if needed, for business needs.     • Incumbent works in an office environment sometimes with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
    • Incumbent may have to travel to a variety of patient homes and perform in conditions that vary greatly depending upon the client's home environment. Some homes will be clean, neat, and maintained at a comfortable temperature. Other homes may be cluttered, dirty, with an uncomfortable temperature.
