Job Description:
Department Description The PACU department is comprised of four
PACU areas with 127 bays.Children's Surgery Center PACU with 24
bays for pediatric patients, Pavilion PACU with 63 bays, Same Day
Surgery Center PACU with 12 bays and University Tower II PACU with
28 bays (opening 2021).Specialized care is provided both pre and
post operatively to patients undergoing a wide variety of surgical
procedures from 40 OR rooms. Surgical procedures range from complex
Trauma, Neurosurgical, Vascular, Transplant, and Cardiothoracic
cases, to simple outpatient procedures. The units also provide
specialized care to patients from ancillary procedure areas who
have received general anesthesia.This is a pediatric core position
with occasional to frequent requirement to work in the adult PACU

OPPORTUNITYResponsibilitiesThe CN II/ III identifies and implements
nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of
patient populations, directs and acts as resource to other members
of the nursing team as assigned and promotes compliance and support
for policies. The primary responsibilities for this position
consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient
centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning,
implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive
nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring
patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties; and adhering
to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and
local regulations.Provides direct patient care to a diversified
patient population.Applies knowledge, experience and judgment to
determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use
abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations.Participates in
patient and staff education.Demonstrates leadership
skills.Demonstrates accountability for own practices as defined by
the Nurse Practice Act.Required QualificationsMinimum of 2 years
recent pediatric Critical Care/ICU experience.Graduation from an
accredited school of nursing.CPR Certification.PALS certification
(ACLS certification within 3 months of hire)Possession of a current
California RN license.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand
the English language.Knowledge of current trends in
nursing.Commitment to excellence in patient care.Effective
interpersonal skills.Demonstrates accountability and
professionalism.Adapts to change in a positive, professional and
productive manner.Knowledge of legal implications in clinical
practice and documentation.Knowledge of performance improvement and
evidence-based practice.Basic computer skills.Preferred
QualificationsBachelor of Science in Nursing. Special
RequirementsMust demonstrate ability in assessment, planning,
implementing and evaluating patient care, taking into consideration
protective interventions, development (behavioral and physical) and
physiological characteristics specific to the patients.Works
overtime as defined by the collective bargaining agreements; floats
to other areas; and works weekends, holidays and call as
required.References reflect an overall meets or exceeds.Ability to
work overtime, float to other areas and work weekends and
holidays.Ability to safely lift 25 lbs. and assist in moving
patients and stand on feet over extended periods.This position may
be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen,
Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and
