ResponsibilitiesThe Sierra Vista Hospital location, a 171-bed psychiatric care facility located in south Sacramento, is a full-service mental health facility and a center of support for patients and their families. Since 1986, we have offered our clinical expertise to those suffering from emotional, behavioral and addiction problems.Current Openings: Full Time, Part Time, and Per DiemPOSITION SUMMARYThe Psychiatric RN supports the department using established nursing protocol for all possible admissions. Answers inquiry calls, schedules assessments, and performs psychiatric assessments for individuals presenting for an assessment. The assessment RNs provide clinical summary and recommendation based on their findings, consult with the psychiatrist, and refer individuals to the appropriate lowest level of care based on the psychiatrists orders. Additionally, assessment RNs provide community referrals as indicated and desired by the individuals. RNs take telephone orders from admitting MDs, perform initial medical screening through referring ERs. They may be responsible for initial insurance pre-authorization of admitted patients with-in 24 hours. Our success comes from a responsive management style and a service philosophy based on integrity, competence and compassion.QualificationsQUALIFICATIONSEducation:* Minimum associates Degree from an accredited program and an RN license, required.Experience:* A minimum of six (6) months direct medical and clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting, with direct experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations preferred.Licensure:* R.N.Additional Requirements:* CPR Certification required.
