of Radiology is a 24-hour, seven day a week operation providing
Imaging Services for adult and pediatric inpatients and

Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Director, the
Nuclear Medicine Manager is responsible for the operational,
clinical, service, administrative, and fiscal management of Nuclear
Medicine and PET Services. This position manages full spectrum
operations to ensure quality, patient care, access, and budget
goals are achieved; manages continuous improvement of departmental
clinical and administrative processes and functions. This position
provides visionary leadership to provide maximum effectiveness of
imaging services, financial performance, and responsiveness in the
health care environment. Acts as liaison for the Health Care
System, other government agencies, and private agencies or groups.
Responsible for various human resource issues including recruiting,
disciplinary action, leaves, and contract agreement knowledge.
Provides day to day operational oversight and leadership with
administrative and faculty members during development and
implementation of imaging services in the health network community.
The Nuclear Medicine Manager is responsible for developing and
maintaining a cohesive work environment, development, and oversight
of clinical staff, and ensuring the safe delivery of imaging
services. Required Qualifications Applicants are encouraged to
upload license and certification if required of the position.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent
experience / training
- Possession of a valid Nuclear Medicine technical license or
certificate (ARRT and/or NMCTB)
- Leadership and management skills to provide direction and a
sense of purpose to departmental staff and to provide innovative
solutions to management problems.
- Professional effectiveness as demonstrated by the ability to
establish clear and challenging goals, and develop effective,
realistic long- and short-range plans.
- Personnel management skills to include developing position
descriptions; recruiting, interviewing, and selecting employees;
establishing performance standards, empowering employees, and
holding them accountable; coaching and evaluating employees;
recognizing and rewarding staff; administering corrective action;
and providing staff development and team building
opportunities.

parties and programs.
- Must maintain and enhance knowledge and abilities by attending
training and development courses on an ongoing basis related to

resolution or other relevant topics.
- Fiscal responsibility and the ability to maintain operations
within budgeted constraints.
- Able to develop and justify long and short-term equipment
strategies to meet growing trends and demands.
- Ability to analyze and present information in a clear and
concise fashion to staff, faculty, and leadership teams.
- Working knowledge of policies, regulations and compliance
programs related to state and federal guidelines, Joint Commission,
Center for Medicare Services.
- Must demonstrate a well-developed understanding of radiology
operations and patient pathways throughout our services.
- Must have expert technical knowledge of patient care and
workflow of Nuclear Medicine and PET modalities.
- Must be able to 'see the broad picture' for the entire
department (across all modalities) and bridge gaps and
inconsistencies.
- Ability to integrate the understanding of UCD/UCDHS's mission,
commitments, and projects within a service-oriented health care
environment.
- Ability to incorporate knowledge of Joint Commission and Title
22 rules and regulations to assure that clinic programs and
operations are complying.
- Analytical skills to effectively comprehend large amount of
complex medical, administrative, and fiscal information, and
ability to absorb such information to make timely and thoughtful
decisions.
- Planning skills to analyze program goals and objectives given
the current and potential health care trends to make accurate
short-and-long term projections to establish program needs and
resource requirements and to secure potential sources of funds and
revenues to meet those requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills to determine workload
priorities to enable timely completion of tasks. Ability to work
effectively and independently under pressure with a minimum of
direction.
- Knowledge of business management principles, and of budget
control and accounting principles, including capital budgeting,
cost accounting, professional and patient billing, contract
administration, etc., and the knowledge or ability to apply these
principles to a health care environment. Knowledge of or ability to
learn the UCD/UCDMC budgeting process, management reports,
accounting, purchasing and patient billing systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to
express ideas assertively, clearly, and concisely both verbally and
in writing. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with
others to secure necessary information and cooperation from a
variety of people.
- Strong leadership and management skills to provide planning,
coordinating and direction to departmental staff, and to propose
innovative solutions to management problems.
- Personnel management skills to include developing position
descriptions, recruiting, interviewing, selecting, training,
evaluating and disciplining others. Ability to deal with highly
confidential office and personnel matters. Knowledge of appropriate
staff personnel policies and procedures.
- Ability to exercise authority and direct and motivate others.
Planning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills to
anticipate, avert or resolve issues of staffing, scheduling and
task allocation. Ability to be flexible to maintain continuity of
programs while considering individual staff needs and goals.
- Ability to understand and implement the requirements of
providing patient care with a highly regulated and constantly
changing environment. Ability to understand health care issues
within a broad perspective and to apply these issues to the imaging
setting.
- Ability to understand and respond to academic teaching and
research requirements within the educational setting and to
reconcile potential conflicts these requirements may have with
imaging activities.
- Knowledge of personal and or mainframe computers, and software
tools, including word processing spread sheets, data base, and
other application packages. Knowledge of or ability to learn
UCDMC's TSI Information management systems along with the Radiology
Information System. Special Requirements
- Must be able to travel to other UCDH locations.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on
business needs.
- This position may be subject to a criminal background
investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical
evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
