HDR is looking for a Substation Section Manager to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in Northern California.

The primary duties of the Substation Section Manager position include leadership of key client relationships and managing staff and projects within the Substation Engineering group. The position will also engage in business development activities to support existing and new clients in the region. Experience with distribution, transmission line, communication, and system projection and planning projects would be a benefit.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Growing and managing the local Power Delivery relationships with clients, including overseeing execution of projects, driving quality and delivery, technical leadership, marketing new opportunities, and profitability to achieve business objectives.
• Supervision of the substation engineering team (APM's, Project Engineers and/or junior design staff) including providing mentorship and oversight on workload, quality, utilization, training, and conducting annual performance reviews of team members.
• Responsible for Project Management and oversight of substation projects of all sizes and complexity, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, and quality control, schedule, and budget management.
• Should understand basic project management tools and techniques including contract types and project risk, work breakdown structures, project scope, schedule, and budget, financial management and controls, and project closeout.
• Coordinate with company recruiting staff and leadership to develop a hiring plan and grow the group based on client and work-sharing needs.
• Establish a network of relationships with technical peers in other HDR offices and leverage those relationships and resources in work-sharing opportunities.
• Coordinate with marketing and technical leadership for business development.
• Must thoroughly understand and implement the HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures.

  Qualifications
  
  Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10yrs relevant industry experience
  • Project management experience
  • Substation Design experience
  • Strong client and project management skills
  • Demonstrates leadership and communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Some travel may be required Preferred Qualifications:
    • Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Civil Engineering
    • PE license strongly
    • Preference will be given to candidates local to Northern California

The expected compensation range for this position is $126,511.00 - $205,375.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
