Job Description:

Due to growth, we are adding a Planning Manager to our production team who will lead a team of material resource planners controllers in operational purchasing to support manufacturing of our diverse rail manufacturing ecosystem: Light Rail Vehicles, Locomotives, Passenger Coaches and Bogies. This position requires a strong planning background with excellent analytical skills. A strong leader with the drive to succeed in a complex, multi-project and engineer-to-manufacture environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead a team of 8 or more MRP controllers, responsible for placing purchase orders per business requirements. Key activities comprise of: -- Analyze demand in ERP.
    -- Create Purchase Requisitions.
    -- Create Purchase Orders.
    • Drive the team to plan, lot size, release and prioritize planned purchase orders to meet required material delivery dates.
    • Perform excess inventory analysis and coordinate with the warehouse for the availability of excess inventory. Minimize excess stock and ensure the business is left with minimum liability.
    • Monitor the Bill of Materials (BOM), Engineering drawings and liaison with Production planning, Engineering team, to resolve discrepancies.
    • Monitor changes in supply or demand (in quantity or timing) for material and correct imbalances.
    • Negotiate price and material lead time with suppliers for Quick buys (Immediate need) and take follow up actions with the suppliers to expedite parts.
    • Coordinate with Material Program Managers and drive MRP controllers for on-time release of purchase orders.
    • Manage and track inventory transfer within different projects and other Siemens Mobility units.
    • Establish, manage, and meet clear department goals, objectives, and KPI's. Set priorities and ensure the performance of employees to meet department goals. Perform periodic employee performance reviews.
    • Develop and implement effective training plans and training materials for new hires and Improve internal process compliance and control by analyzing available data.
    • Develop and maintain standard reports to provide an exact representation of material status (Purchase orders and Requisitions) and other related information required for the business's effective management. Provide regular status reports to all stakeholders.
    • Interface with Strategic Purchasing, Enterprise Scheduling, Manufacturing Department Managers, and Project Management teams to provide analysis and input regarding project material requirements and status, including problem mitigation strategies.
    • Support projects and management with requested ad-hoc tasks and perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.
      What you will need to be successful :

      • Bachelor's degree in engineering or Supply Chain
      • Four to seven years of management experience in a tactical purchasing / planning role.
      • Proficient in computer systems, databases, and programs, specifically Microsoft Excel and Office including macros, V-lookup, and pivot tables.
      • Strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain concepts and application.
      • Proponent of change for continuous improvement.
      • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
      • Commitment to meeting schedule despite obstacles
      • Strong leadership skills, self-motivated with attention to detail, and commitment to high quality work.
      • Ability to make sound decisions when faced with a degree of ambiguity and complexity.
      • Experience with SAP MRP
        We would be impressed if you had:
        • Master's in Supply Chain preferred
        • APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification. Our Values
