The Department of Management in the Harbert College of Business at
Auburn University invites applications for the Managing Director of
the Lowder Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship. This
position will be a non-tenure track position within the Department
of Management at the rank of either a Professor of Practice or
Lecturer beginning Summer or Fall 2021.The Harbert College's Lowder
Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship is dedicated to
producing highly-successful entrepreneurs and generating knowledge
that drives diverse entrepreneurship thought and sustainable
business practice. It has a vision to become one of the elite
entrepreneurship programs among public universities in the United
States.Duties and Responsibilities:I. Organize and manage
student-related entrepreneurial activities at the Harbert College
of Business.--- Teaching classes in the entrepreneurship
program
--- Mentoring and advising students in the techniques for
developing ideas for new products or services, evaluating whether
those ideas represent a viable business opportunity, and
understanding how to turn that opportunity into a successful
business.
--- Coordinating and marketing the campus-wide entrepreneurship
minor both inside the college and to other colleges across
campus.
--- Managing and providing experiential learning opportunities for
students to apply what they have learned in real-life situations.
This includes current initiatives such as Business Idea
Competitions (e.g., Tiger Cage, Halloween Pitch, SEC Student
Pitch), Entrepreneurship-related clubs/events, and student-oriented
speaker series.II. Coordinate student instruction and support at
the various accelerator programs available for students inside and
outside the Auburn University system. III . Manage and actively
promote (in conjunction with Harbert's Director of Entrepreneurship
Strategy and the Harbert Communication Team) outreach/recognition
programs that benefit the Lowder Center, Harbert College, and
Auburn University including, but not limited to: Top Tigers,
Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame, Women's Entrepreneurship Week,
etc.IV. Engage in and expand Lowder Center outreach with key
stakeholders including the Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, alumni,
businesses, the State of Alabama's entrepreneurial ecosystem, the
city of Auburn, and other outside entities.V. Manage operations
efficiently within the Lowder Center.Students in Auburn
University's entrepreneurship program enjoy access to world-class
facilities, including Lowder Hall, Horton-Hargrave Hall , and the
newly opened New Venture Accelerator in the Auburn Research and
Innovation Center .The Raymond J. Harbert College of Business has a
strong tradition of producing highly desired graduates and
generating knowledge that drives diverse business thought and
sustainable business practice. The college and its programs
consistently rank among the nation's best public undergraduate and
graduate business programs. The Harbert College has experienced
steady enrollment growth in recent years and currently serves over
5,000 undergraduate and graduate students through six academic
departments offering both undergraduate majors and multiple
Master's and PhD options. In addition, the college raised over $130
million in private support during the most recent "Because this is

Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's degree from an
accredited institution at the time employment begins plus
significant professional experience and expertise in startups,
product/process innovation, and/or family business management. A
