American Building Supply (ABS) , a subsidiary of Jeld Wen and one of the Nation's largest wholesales suppliers of Doors, Door Hardware, Windows, and Millwork is currently seeking experienced Assistant Plant Manager to join our talented team of door professionals.

While managing and motivating a production crew, this individual will be responsible for all aspects of their team's performance, including but not limited to: safety, quality, production, and training. This position directly supervises employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Assures all training is current for reports (i.e. safety, process, quality
• Assigns workers to work stations to meet production requirements
• Interprets process specifications for workers
• Monitors production and adjusts work assignments, supply of material, and machine operation when necessary
• Operate, adjust, troubleshoot, and repairs various production machines
• Refers extensive machine repairs to maintenance personnel
• Works with Managers and Maintenance to receive instructions and exchange production information
• Trains workers in equipment operation

    Other Important Qualifications
    
    • B.A. or equivalent from a four-year college; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of lean manufacturing process principle in a manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
